History of Sociology Education

The Sociology Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Tanjungpura (FKIP UNTAN), was officially established in 2008 based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Number 10/DT/2008 dated January 2, 2008. The establishment of this study program was part of Universitas Tanjungpura’s effort to meet the need for professional and competent Sociology educators who are able to respond to the challenges of an increasingly dynamic society.

Along with institutional development and the need to improve the quality of higher education, the operational permit of the Sociology Education Study Program was renewed through the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Number 3343/DT/2010 dated August 11, 2010. This renewal became an important foundation for strengthening the institution in implementing education, research, and community service.

Since its establishment, the Sociology Education Study Program at FKIP UNTAN has continued to develop as one of the centers for education and social science studies in West Kalimantan. Curriculum innovation, graduate competency development, lecturer quality improvement, and the expansion of collaborative networks have continued to be strengthened to produce graduates who are excellent, adaptive, and characterized.

Currently, the Sociology Education Study Program is committed to producing educators, researchers, and social practitioners with academic and professional competence, as well as concern for various socio-cultural issues at the local, national, and global levels.
